The posterior occlusion is established when the first molars erupt. At that time, one can evaluate the antero-posterior and transverse relationships of the occlusion, as well as discover any functional shifts.
Incisors have begun to erupt and problems can be detected such as crowding, habits, deep bites, openbites and some facial asymmetries.
For some, a timely screening will lead to significant treatment benefits; for most, the principal immediate benefit is a parent's peace of mind. The dentist who makes timely referrals is rightly regarded as informed, caring and concerned for the total well being of the patient.
The benefits of early treatment:
For those patients who have clear indications for early intervention, early treatment presents the opportunity to: influence jaw growth in a positive way, harmonize width of the dental arches, improve eruption patterns, lower trauma risk to protruded upper incisors, correct harmful oral habits, and improve aesthetics and self-esteem. Early detection can also simplify and/or shorten treatment time for later corrective orthodontics, reduce the likelihood of impacted permanent teeth, improve some speech problems, preserve and gain space for erupting permanent teeth.

It's not just about appearance either. "Malocclusions" or "bad bites," can affect the way you chew or talk, and can even lead to more serious (and expensive) oral health problems.

No. Although many of our patients are referred to us by family dentists, if you have concerns about the health or appearance of your (or your child's) smile and would like a free evaluation, just book an appointment.
There are a number of factors that determine how long you will wear braces, but in most cases, you'll be ready to show off your new smile in about 18-24 months. And with today's modern orthodontic appliances, treatment is getting faster and easier all the time.
Braces are used to straighten your teeth gradually, not overnight; so a little patience is needed. Just remember, any discomfort you may feel will be brief.
Your beautiful, healthy smile, however, will last a lifetime.

Every case is unique and during your complimentary initial visit, we will be able to give you an estimate of how much treatment will cost. Also, we will be able to provide you with different options based on your goals.
We have many financing options, including in-house financing where we ask for a down payment at the start of treatment and spread out the rest of the cost over the treatment time with interest-free payments.
A second financing option is to use an outside source, which requires no down payment, and lower monthly payments over a longer time period with a given interest rate.

Most dental insurance covers a part of orthodontic treatment. Since there are so many plans, our office can help you determine if and how much your insurance covers.
Perhaps one of the biggest advances in orthodontics is its reduction in the amount of force used to straighten teeth. We use the most gentle appliances possible to straighten the teeth and correct the bite. Typically, there is a small amount of discomfort for approximately 36 hours after a wire change or a "tightening." Every patient responds differently, and most of the time during treatment there is little to no discomfort.
